Wood Screens

We strive to make our screens like the original craftsman built them in the early 1900s.  We use cypress for the frame, decorative pieces and inside screen molding, the same wood that was used in that era.  We use mortise and tenon joints and custom make them to fit in your window frames, whether old or new windows.  We mill our own wood from rough cut lumber and can make exact replicas of original screens and wood work.  Any design you can draw, we can make plus we have hundreds of example pictures.  Screens have a tremendous impact on the appearance of a house so we frequently do design meetings with our customers.

Screens are more than decoration, of course, they perform several important functions.  They allow you to open the windows and keep bugs and birds out and keep kids in.  They also help protect your windows from the elements and depending on what kind of screen material you use, can help block the sun on hot summer days.

Screens would probably last indefinitely if maintained properly.  We prime and paint all wood with high quality paint.  Once painted, we stretch and attach the screen and screen molding and install them in your windows with “screen hangers”.
